Well,  I have a lot to tell you.
Since our super successful summer camp we have had some outstanding growth.  We have really been blessed by what is happening with Detroit Hope.  God is smiling, but as Ephesians 3:7-11 says, we will press on towards the goal. I must say a talk with Steve Kellogg from Central Mission really impressed upon my current mission.
For those of you that didn't know about this summer, we have a computer technology center camp,  focused on peacemaking, and supported by a non profit who shares our building with us.  We put our church programs right up next to the end of the camp and our youth do the inviting.  Our Adults were active leaders, and they invited more children.  Eventually, our Adult bible study became a family bible study, swelling to numbers of 34-40 and it became more like a bible church than a bible study with that intimate learning setting. So we started a youth bible study. But who should volunteer to lead it but a Young Adult named Melissa McCray.  It has been a successful start, and now we have two bible studies.

Fast forwarding to this weekend. We had mission center conference, and we had a lot of investment in it.  The conference voted to keep Detroit Hope alive, and sustain us with our utilities, and it was awesome to receive that support. But also some people were pledging to help us fix things around the church and actually take us under their wing.  I must say that this is really re-assuring as we are growing in ministry and sustainability.

Jeff Stoker, our Congregational Financial Officer, and Co-Pastor and myself were both voted, and ordained to the office of seventy.  The service was awesome, and we should also have it up on our facebook group Detroit Hope Supporters soon.  One thing that was awesome about this, was the fact that we had an invitation as a congregation to have anyone who had not previously been baptized to consider coming to the waters to seek out and commit to God.  Melissa was spoken to by the holy spirit. She was invited at our ordination to be baptized.  God was really with us all!  Yo Buddy!

April Showers Bring May Flowers,  Shouldn't that be like when we go through rough times and then God saves us by bringing us Grace?  Isn't God awesome? Yo Buddy for some thoughts like those today

Wow, Has it been that long?

March 31st I decide to resurrect the blog.  Since I last posted, a lot has happened again.  We had the baptism of one of our most vibrant adults, She is so excited that she found God and found help because since she found God she had one of the most trying tests ever, she became homeless.  Through oblation help she is able to become stable again. She has assistance, and she is in a new studio apartment she can afford, and she can ride the bus to the church for only 50 cents.

Besides this,  I went to seminary in January, and it has been tough,  but I am still working through it.  Please Pray for me on this. (Jacob)

The Community Technology Center (Our Non-Profit partner) just upgraded 12 computers, got a new server, and was donated a copy machine!! This will help us so much with our ministry.

Rachel Blakesley and Troy Farrar have been working diligently on our new believers class,  and things are going so well that we are already through the material.  They used the of water and spirit resources out of the missionary tool kit,  the aliyah scripture helps from 163,  they used the priesthood manual and the new members manual.  (and Rachel and Troy's Learning experience in the religion minors at Graceland and Troy's experience working at Kirtland and Nauvoo historic sites.  This has all come together to be a stellar class.  We would appreciate your support in praying for baptisms. We had 12 complete the class, and they need to come to a realization that they are committed to Jesus Christ on their own.  So they need your prayers. Pray for them, pray for their relationship with God.

Also Jeff and I will be posting a website soon. So look on here for the updates.
Until then,
May Peace be with you- The Detroit Hope Team
